Waste-Tech league champion
Waste-Tech Services was crowned champion of the 44th season of the Boardman Businessmen's League.
Midwest Money Center was runner-up.
Waste-Tech members were: Glen Milton Jr., Dick Marlowe, Jim Mitchell, Bill Artz, Greg Kleeh, Dave Kiraly and Sean Flanagan.
Mitchell and Midwest Money's Mike Dohar both had 300s during the rolloffs.
Dohar's series was 752.
The 2005-06 season was highlighted by six 300 games, including ones from Tom Billock, Bill DeCicco, Dave Rudy Jr. and Boardman Lanes co-proprietor Rich Wilson.
From the league's inception in 1962 through the 2004-05 season, the only members to roll 300s were Marlowe (two), Dave Billock, Dan Cocca, Bruce Mincher and Jim Seabrook.
Dohar edged Artz, 219-218, for the high-average award for 2005-06.
Dohar also had the league's high set of 794.
Bill Peoples was most-improved for raising his average 19 pins.
Boardman Businessmen's year-end singles and doubles handicap tournament was won by Tom Billock with 819.
He teamed with brother Dave to win doubles with 1457.
Beers has 806
Keith Beers had 279-806 in Mahoning Lighting Men and Marty Letscher had a 300-775 in Wednesday Men, both at McKinley.
Wing And A Prayer won Primetimers' championship at A-Plus Family Bowl with members Ken Signor, Pete Saborse, John Nuzzo and Mike Saborse, while the Spares, by virtue of winning both halves, reigned as champs of Golden Gals Trio at Wedgewood.
Gail Morris, Mary Jane Long and Shirley Miller comprised the Spares.
Also at Boardman, Tanglewood Golf Course won the Longhorn Steakhouse crown with Mike Szenborn Sr., Rich Szenborn, Tom Tedesco, Mike Szenborn Jr., Tom Parker, Tom Hricko, Greg Powell and Dave Cole.
At Wedgewood, Marie Hamilton, Tanya Nelson, Shannon Murphy and Lisa Donnorummo comprised the Try Hards champion T-Birds team, while Jo Ross, Dee Moorhead, Jane Beilby and Hazel Price made up the runner-up Mustangs team.
Lane Brains and Wanna Beez were second-half wild-card winners in Mixed Bankers at Holiday, where LaVilla Lounge defeated Catullo Meats No. 2 to win the Wednesday Night Men's League.
LaVilla members were Ken Gura, John Pierog, Al Puromaki, Ron Sheppard, Dave Combs, Bill Vrabel, Bernie Fischer and Milt Carlson.
Branch 260/Komara Jewelers won the Jednota Mixed League championship by defeating first-half champ Branch 731/Florand/Kubina-Yuhas Funeral Home. Tom Morella's 700 led Branch 260/Komara. Rich Kollar's 204 and Irene Makovec's 193 paced Branch 731/Florand.
Team members were Komara (Morella, Paul Ritz, Judy Nuth) and Florand/Kubina (Makovec, Kollar, Ron Yurak and Nappy Necko).
Jednota Mixed's banquet is May 21 at St. Matthias auditorium at 5 p.m.
Fuzzy Toman Memorial's fourth-quarter winner at Holiday was Mac's Roofing of John Tarica, Bob McCormick, Eric Hazlett, Bill Rowe, Frank McCormick and Robert Angelo.
Balkan Home Improvement beat North Lima Tire for the Outdoorsmen championship at Camelot. Sponsor Dino Balkan finished with high average of 231. Other BHI members are Tony Balkan, Matt and Dan Clipse, Jack Hutchinson, Mike Stitt and Don Morrison.
Event entries
Entries are available for the 43rd Youngstown Mixed Doubles Tournament at West Side Lanes.
The United States Bowling Congress-sanctioned tournament runs May 19-28. Entry fee is $22 per couple.
Entries and fees, payable to Youngstown Mixed Doubles Tournament, should be sent to Donna Kincaid, 2727 Morris Lanes, Girard 44420.
Youth meeting
The annual meeting of the United States Bowling Congress' Youngstown youth association will be May 18 at Wedgewood Lanes.
All sanctioned youth over the age of 14 are invited, along with parents, coaches, proprietors and youth board members. A current sanction card is necessary for attendance.
The agenda at the event at 7:30 p.m. will include voting for officers and directors of the youth board.
Changes due
The United States Bowling Congress' Greater Youngstown Bowling Association has scheduled a meeting for delegates of the former Youngstown Bowling Association, May 16 at Amron Lanes at 7 p.m.
Voting will determine new by-laws, officers and delegates for the new USBC non-merged association. The meeting is an opportunity to express an opinion. To have a name on the ballot, the nominating committee must be contacted seven days before the meeting.
Members must bring sanction cards.
Meeting May 12
The Youngstown Women's Bowling Association will hold its reorganizational meeting May 12 at Wedgewood Lanes at 7 p.m.
Agenda items include changing the organization's name, establishing new by-laws and election of various directors and delegates.
All YWBA members are urged to attend.
