Streetsboro runs away with Columbiana event
COLUMBIANA -- The Streetsboro boys and girls track teams ran away from the Fourth annual Clipper Invitational as champions.
The Streetsboro girls scored 122 points, 40 more than second-place United. Columbiana was third with 81 points and East Palestine was next with 79.
For the boys, Streetsboro scored 133 points and Columbiana was next with 99. United and East Palestine followed with 81 and 76.
With 36, Streetsboro's Jessica Scott was the top point getter. She won the 100 and 200 races, and took second place in the high jump and 400.
United's Jordan Johnson led the boys with 28 points.
Johnson won the 110 and 300 hurdles and finished second in the 100. In the 300 hurdles, he broke the stadium record.
Top performers
Streetsboro had other multiple winners, including Kim Taylor who won the shot put with a meet record of 36-9 1/2. She also won the discus with 107-7.
Kayla Kelly dominated the long-distance races, winning the 1600 with a meet-record 5:39.4 and the 3200 with a record time of 12:45.9.
For the boys, Columbiana's Tyler Best won the discus (139-6) and placed second in the shot put (43-3 1/2).
United's Eric Sluss won the long jump (19-0 3/4) and Leetonia's Corey Rauschenbaugh won the high jump (5-8).
Columbiana's Cory Guy won the 100 (11.3) and was second in the 200 (23.3).
