SRU preschool accepts summer registration
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Slippery Rock University Student Government Association Preschool and Child Care Center is accepting summer pupil registration.
The school is open to youngsters from across the community, with programs planned for those ages 3-5 and 6-12.
The center, accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, is directed by Lisa Ringer. Programs run 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
"The center was originally opened to help SRU students, faculty and staff with young children while attending or teaching classes," Ringer explains, adding, "It expanded due to public demand for child care services in our area." She points out that in addition to the center's regular teaching staff, SRU students majoring in education lend a hand at the facility.
The daily preschool program makes use of art, music, gymnastics, science/nature, literature, field trips, movement, computers and other age-appropriate topics. School-age children participate in swimming, gymnastics, computers, field sports, games, crafts and other activities.
