COLUMBUS -- The Ohio Department of Insurance's Senior Health Insurance Information Program is expanding its hours of operation to answer questions and to help Medicare beneficiaries enroll in Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage before the May 15 midnight deadline. Medicare beneficiaries may call the OSHIIP hotline at (800) 686-1578 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Also, the OSHIIP office will be open take applications on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. May 15, according to Ann Womer Benjamin, director.
MS luncheon
AKRON -- The sixth annual Women Against Multiple Sclerosis luncheon, presented by Teva Neuroscience, is Tuesday at the Akron/Fairlawn Hilton, 3180 W. Market St. Highlighting the event will be the presentation of the Pam Brock Woman of Courage Award to Pat Baird of Norton.

Newborn hearing
FARRELL/GREENVILLE, Pa. -- UPMC Horizon received a $20,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Health to enhance services used to test the hearing of newborns.

LIBERTY -- A Minority Health Forum, offered by the Mahoning Valley Cancer Coalition, Humility of Mary Health Partners Cancer Centers, Forum Health Cancer Care Centers, and the Youngstown City Health District, is from 8 a.m. to noon May 20 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex, 1620 Motor Inn Drive. 'Baby Safari'
WARREN -- Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital Maternity Services is offering "Baby Safari: A Healthy Adventure" on May 20 from noon to 3 p.m. at the hospital, 1350 E. Market St. This maternity and baby health fair, free and open to the public, is designed to provide information that will help women prepare for their childbirth experience and beyond. The event, sponsored in part by Babies "R" Us, offers a variety of exhibits, the opportunity to meet and ask questions from pediatricians and obstetricians on staff, and tours of the maternity department.
Also, 20-minute educational sessions are offered. They include: "Kangaroo Care: A New Approach to Infant Bonding," at 1 and 2 p.m.; and "Pain Management during Labor and Delivery" at 1:30 p.m. Geoffrey the Giraffe will make an appearance for the kids, and there will be door prizes and refreshments. Women's health
YOUNGSTOWN -- The St. Elizabeth Health Center Breast Care Advisory Board is having its fifth annual Women's Health Night on Wednesday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the hospital, 1044 Belmont Ave.
The event offers a free health screening and mammograms for women age 40 and over who are uninsured or under-insured and who do not have a history of breast cancer. Patients should preregister by calling (330) 480-3151.
MS activities
CANFIELD -- The National Multiple Sclerosis Society's 2006 Christopher & amp; Banks MS Walk in the Mahoning Valley is May 20, starting at 9 a.m. at the Canfield Fairgrounds, 7265 Columbiana-Canfield Road. Sponsored by Giant Eagle and Serono/Pfizer, the event features a four- and two-mile routes around the fairgrounds.
Nationally in 2005, the MS Walk generated $40 million nationwide, and participants from the Ohio Buckeye Chapter raised $1.3 million. For more information about multiple sclerosis or the 2006 MS Walk in the Mahoning Valley area, call (800) 667-7131.
Moms recognized
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Children's Museum of the Valley will celebrate the important role of moms from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
The museum will offer a full day of special arts and crafts, grotesque science experiments, and cookies and punch for young visitors and their parents. Children will also make a special keepsake for their mothers or grandmothers. Admission for the event is $5 for adults, $4 for people over the age of 55 and $3 for children. Members and children under age 3 are free.

Wind energy
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- EverGreen is sponsoring a series on sustainable living in relationship to solar, water and wind as sources of energy.
A program on wind energy will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 27 at Villa Maria Community Center with James Wassel, president of Appalachian Wind Systems in Ellwood City, who will demonstrate a working model windmill to generate electricity.
