Hiram offering College Camp to help parents with search



HIRAM -- Hiram College will host "College Camp: A Training Program for Parents" on May 20 in the Kennedy Center Ballroom.
Participants will receive a notebook of information to assist them with their college search process. The program is free, but registration is required by calling Lisa Schneider, College Camp coordinator and manager of institution advancement programs at Hiram, at (330) 569-5986 or visiting the Web site at www.collegecamp.info.
The schedule is:
Welcome at 9 a.m. with Schneider.
"How to Conduct the Perfect College Search" at 9:15 with Patricia Inman, counselor, Jefferson Area High School, and Daniel Weiss, counselor, Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School.
"Demystifying the Admission Process" at 10 with Karen Dickerson, senior assistant director of admission, University of Akron; Jim Barrett, executive director of admission at Hiram College; and Susan Schillings, director of admissions and records, Cuyahoga Community College.
"Financial Aid: What You Really Need to Know" at 11 with Ann Marie Gruber, assistant director of financial aid, Lakeland Community College.
"Career Preparation: What Does This Really Mean?" at noon with Doug Reichenberger, director, the Career Development Center, Malone College.
College Camp was established in 2002 by Hiram College. Since its inception, the program has served more than 350 parents of high school students. The Ohio Lottery provides primary sponsorship for College Camp, with additional support from the Ohio Transfer Council.
