CANFIELD -- The junior cosmetology class at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, will hold its spring hair-a-thon from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Appointments are preferred and may be made by calling (330) 729-4000 Ext. 1708. Among services are perms, relaxers, hair coloring, facials, manicures, blowing and wet sets. Fees are based on services.
Fire hall benefit auction
GREENVILE, Pa. -- The West Salem Fire Department, 625 Vernon Road, is sponsoring a benefit auction to help the department Friday at the fire hall. New items will be sold, and lunch will be available. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the sale starts at 6 p.m.

Corporation gets grant
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- State Sen. Bob Robbins of Greenville, R-50th, announced a state grant to help Greenville-Reynolds Development Corp. defray development costs. Robbins said the corporation will receive $22,000 to assist in redeveloping an industrial site at a vacant building. The grant was approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
Hart's Wheatland hours
WHEATLAND, Pa. -- U.S. Congresswoman Melissa Hart will hold regular office hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the first, third and fourth Tuesday of every month beginning May 23 at the Wheatland Borough Municipal Building.
Hart said she wants to provide constituents a more convenient way to directly interact with her office. Walk-in appointments are welcome, but constituents hoping to secure a specific time are encouraged to call Hart's Lawrence County Office at (724) 752-0490 to coordinate.
Cleanup in Hartford
HARTFORD -- The township will hold its annual spring cleanup for residents only from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 20 at the township building, 6901 state Route 305. Tires, water heaters, stoves, washers, dryers, lead-acid batteries and refrigerators will be accepted. Freon must be removed before drop-off. Paints, oil and liquid chemicals will not be accepted.
