40 seniors chosen University Scholars

The scholars get free tuition, room and board and book vouchers.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Forty graduating high school seniors, including 24 valedictorians, were introduced May 2 as the latest class of the Leslie H. Cochran University Scholars at Youngstown State University.
The program, now in the 14th year, recognizes outstanding high school academic achievement with an award that covers tuition, room and board, as well as a book voucher, and is renewable for four years.
The class, which includes students from high schools across Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, was introduced during a luncheon underwritten by the program founder and former YSU President Leslie H. Cochran and his wife, Lin. The luncheon was part of YSU's annual Scholar Day, during which the students participated in orientation, placement testing, advisement and class registration.
