21 poster creators honored



Pupils from 49 area schools took part in the poster contest.
Twenty-one area schoolchildren were honored April 20 as winners in the School Bundle Day poster competition sponsored by Youngstown Area Goodwill Industries.
The contest, held in conjunction with the 45th annual School Bundle Day donation drive, involved students from Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties. Students drew pictures of how Goodwill helps people with disabilities.
Goodwill hosted a breakfast for more than 70 winners, parents, school officials and guests in its cafeteria, where posters were displayed and winners received educational gifts and certificates.
Forty-nine schools took part in the program, which yielded 4,063 bags and more than 28,000 pounds of clothing and small household items.
School Bundle Day Poster Contest winners by grade are:
Kindergarten: Jenney Smith, Hilltop Elementary, first; Madison White, St. Nicholas School, second; and Katelyn Smith, Dobbins Elementary, third.
First grade: Gabriella Gaudio, Dobbins. first; Alexis Hudock, Hilltop, second; and Jordan Worsencroft, Springfield Elementary, third.
Second grade: Angela Smith, Davis Elementary, first; Theresa Mikolay, Hilltop, second; and Kellie Walker, St. Nicholas, third.
Third grade: Carli Sebest, Dobbins, first; Olivia Boyd, St. Luke Elementary, second; and McKenzie Myers, H.C. Mines Intermediate, third.
Fourth grade: First: Gabriella Kratzer, first; Tommy Rebraca, second; and Leah Leshnack, all of St. Rose, third.
Fifth grade: First: Felicia Flesch, Mineral Ridge Middle, first; Brandon Mukofchan, Mineral Ridge, second; Jessica Miller, St. Christine School, third.
Sixth grade: Katie Fernstrom, Canfield Village Middle, first; Stephanie Toth, Holy Family School, second; and Lauren Illencik, St. Luke School, third.
