Relay for Life scheduled

American Cancer Society has scheduled this year's Relay for Life to raise funds to support its efforts in research, education, advocacy and services to cancer patients.
Cancer survivors and people from all walks of life in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties will participate in the society's signature event, which features special ceremonies for survivors and other activities that will take place during the 24-hour period.
Each relay begins at 6 p.m. Friday and continues until 6 p.m. Saturday. About 78 cents of every dollar raised will be used by the society to reduce cancer incidence and deaths.
The first relay of the year was held April 7 and 8 at Youngstown State University with 100 cancer survivors participating. The event raised $56,000.
