Ex-councilman indicted

TOLEDO (AP) -- A former city councilman who resigned effective this week was indicted Wednesday on federal bribery charges.
Bob McCloskey, 60, is accused of accepting bribes totaling $5,000 from a businessman cooperating with the FBI.
McCloskey accepted $3,000 from the businessman in March and $2,000 in April, according to the U.S. attorney's office in Cleveland.
He was videotaped three weeks ago accepting cash in exchange for agreeing to help a businessman develop an amusement park in Toledo, The Blade has reported.
He submitted his resignation last week, and it took effect Tuesday.
A Lucas County grand jury indicted McCloskey in February on bribery charges accusing him of trying to swap influence for contributions.
McCloskey, a councilman since 1994, was accused of trying to force two businesses to make a $100,000 contribution to a retirees' prescription drug fund in exchange for his support in a rezoning case, prosecutors said.
A message seeking comment was left Wednesday with McCloskey's attorney, Jay Feldstein.
