YOUNGSTOWN -- David Tawei Lee, scholar, diplomat and currently Taiwan's representative to the United States, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Chestnut Room of Youngstown State University's Kilcawley Center.
His appearance is part of the Skeggs Lecture Series, which is free and open to all.
Lee is a graduate of National Taiwan University and earned master's and doctoral degrees in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia. From 1998 to 2001, he also served as deputy minister of foreign affairs. In 2000, Lee returned to National Taiwan University as an adjunct professor.
The next year, President Chen Shui-bian appointed him to serve as Taiwan's representative to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union, a position he held until recently.
The lecture series is named after Leonard T. Skeggs Sr., general secretary of the YMCA in Youngstown.
