CORTLAND -- Abbey Bensing pitched a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts and two walks Tuesday to lead the Lakeview High softball team to an 8-0 victory over Girard.
The Bulldogs are 14-3 overall and 8-2 in the Trumbull Athletic Conference. Bensing improved to 6-1.
Michelle Antonelli rapped a two-run homer and two singles. She also had three RBIs and three runs scored to also spark the Bulldogs.
Jen Baker and Kelly Moore each added two singles and Amy Downs two RBIs to aid the winners.
Girard is 4-16 and 1-10 TAC.
Liberty 16, Warren Harding 1
LIBERTY -- Freshman Brianna Palumbo had five strikeouts during a five-inning three-hitter in a non-league game.
Freshman Kacey Kurtz and Michelle Dykes, a junior, both had two hits and two RBIs, while senior Sarah Stofko had two hits and one RBI for the Leopards (6-9).
Marlington 7, West Branch 2
MARLINGTON -- Kelli Schmucker had three hits and three RBIs and she pitched a four-hitter for the Dukes (10-6, 5-6) in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.
One of Schmucker's hits was a home run.
Bri Benedict and Caitlyn King had singles for West Branch (7-15, 1-10 NBC).
Late Monday
BERLIN CENTER -- Ellie Sanders hit two doubles while McKenzie Mowery drove in four runs with two hits to lead Western Reserve to a 13-3 decision over Sebring.
Winning pitcher Stevie Banks' two hits included a double. Also for the Blue Devils (14-4, 10-2 Inter-County League), Erika Goddard, Kailyn Mowery and Olivia Myers had two hits each while Cassie Zimmerman tripled.
For Sebring, Jordan Henderson and Megan Allcorn had RBI doubles. Ashley Amabeli also doubled.
