PREP BASEBALL South Range repels Jackson-Milton



The Bluejays rallied twice before the Raiders won it in the sixth inning.
NORTH JACKSON -- The Jackson-Milton High baseball team twice rallied from four-run deficits, but South Range still prevailed, 9-7, in Tuesday's Inter-County League game.
The Bluejays came back from deficits of 4-0 and 7-3, but the Raiders scored twice in the top of the sixth inning for the win.
The Raiders (8-13, 5-6 ICL) led 7-3 in the fifth before the Bluejays used a four-run frame to knot it up.
Steve Bensinger, Chris Gause and Codey Deal each had two hits for South Range.
Nick Serb doubled for Jackson-Milton.
Canfield 14, East Liverpool 1
CANFIELD -- Seniors Jim Gromada, Paul Ruchtie, Tommy Hudson and John Thomas led a 13-hit attack for the Cardinals (15-5, 7-1 Metro Athletic Conference).
Junior Matt Glove (2-0) pitched the five-inning game.
Maplewood 9, Mineral Ridge 6
CORTLAND -- Jarett Partridge's two hits included a triple and drove in four runs for the Rockets (10-4).
Winning pitcher Mike Finch struck out five batters and walked four. At the plate, he drove in three runs.
Lordstown 12, Southington 8
LORDSTOWN -- Zack Sutliss pitched six-plus innings and also had two hits including a double to lead Lordstown (3-11).
Ben Gibson and Matt Darocha each had three hits including a double for the Red Devils.
Mason Henline led the Wildcats with three hits while Loren McIntosh and Bob Hausen each had a pair.
Columbiana 7, Crestview 6
COLUMBIANA -- Mike Welce and Joe Couchenaur each had two hits for the Clippers (11-2, 8-4 Tri-County League).
Joe Satler pitched the win, but needed help in the seventh from Chris Stewart. The two allowed only four hits, but one of them was a two-run homer by Crestview's Craig Schmidt in the fifth.
The Rebels dropped to 13-6, 7-5.
