Man charged with abusing grandson, 4

LEBANON, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities allege a man disciplined his grandson by rubbing the 4-year-old's nose in urine, tying him to a toilet with plastic food wrap and barricading him inside an entertainment center.
The man also has been accused of stuffing the boy's mouth with hot peppers and then duct-taping his mouth shut.
David Hubbard, 50, of Turtlecreek Township, was jailed without bond after a Warren County grand jury indicted him Monday on a felony child endangering charge. He was scheduled to be arraigned today in Common Pleas Court and faces one to five years in prison if convicted.
The alleged abuse began in January when the boy, his three siblings and mother temporarily lived at a mobile home park with Hubbard and other relatives, said Andy Sievers, an assistant county prosecutor.
Sievers would not say who reported the alleged abuse to Children Services investigators in April. The children were then placed in foster care.
The boy suffered bruises, cuts and blisters, prosecutors said.
