Historical highlights of the Paramount Theater:
1918: Liberty Theater built after the Excelsior building, an early performance hall, is demolished.
1929: Paramount Pictures Corp. buys building from the McCrory Co. and installs a movie theater with a $200,000 renovation.
1970: Paramount closes Youngstown's last first-run movie theater.
1975: Movie House Corp. of Philadelphia reopens theater.
1978: Theater closes again.
1983: Two local residents, Richard Blackwell and William Andrews, buy the building but fail at raising money to create an art theater.
1985: Ohio One Corp. buys vacant building.
1988: Manhattan Theater Proprietorship begins unsuccessful attempt to raise money for renovation.
2006: Corporation formed by Grand Venues buys building.
