The lift-slab method of construction is used for the first time in Youngstown to raise the first section of a reinforced concrete ceiling for the new Sear & amp; Roebuck Co. warehouse at Southern Blvd. and Brooklyn Ave. The first section, a concrete slab 72 feet by 48 feet weighed more than 310 tons and was raised by hydraulic jacks atop each of the 10-inch steel columns in the section.
