GIRARD -- Aly Moliterno had a triple, single and two RBIs while Kelley Bondar and Sarah Britt contributed three singles and one RBI apiece, to lead Girard at Kiwanis Field. Girard advanced to play LaBrae next Monday at Kiwanis Field. Krista Kirkpatrick and Ashley Esposito each had two singles for the Indians (4-15). Kassi Simeon pitched a seven-hitter with three walks over the distance for Girard. Kara Egelsky had two doubles, a single and one RBI and Jeanette Geer two RBI singles to spark Brookfield.
South Range 7, Campbell 1
NORTH LIMA -- Senior Alexis Binder had seven strikeouts and walked two in a four-hitter. Heather Stacy, also a senior, had a double and two singles for three RBIs for South Range (4-12-1). For Campbell, Delilah Benedis had a double and single of her team's four hits and she also knocked in the Red Devils' only run. Ursuline plays at South Range next Monday at 4:30 p.m. for a sectional championship.
Division IIBeaver Local 6, East Liverpool 0
CARROLLTON -- Alexa Smith had two hits including a triple and Brittney Barrett singled twice for the Beavers. Beaver Local jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning to give pitcher L'Lee Zimmerman all the working room she needed. Zimmerman threw a complete-game two-hitter with six strikeouts. Meredith Jones doubled for the Potters. Beaver Local will take on top-seeded Carrollton Friday at 5 p.m.
BASEBALL
Division IAshtabula Lakeside 8, Howland 4
ASHTABULA -- Lakeside trailed 4-3 before scoring three runs in the fifth inning to eliminate Howland at Ashtabula City Park's Smith Field. Jake Kakavros hit a solo home run for the Tigers in a three-run third inning. Manoli Pahoulis hit a double and single for Howland (12-5). Nick Presciano hit a two-run home run for Lakeside in the sixth inning. Lakeside will play host to Warren Harding in a sectional final next Monday at 4:30 p.m.
