YOUNGSTOWN -- Reservations are being taken for "Finding Foundation Support for your Education," a Grant Center program scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the meeting room of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County's main library, Wick Avenue. The program is geared to students and parents seeking financial support to pursue undergraduate education. It offers a step-by-step approach to finding financial aid and includes facts about foundations and other sources of student aid. The financial aid application process will be included. Reservations can be placed by calling the main library at (330) 744-8636 and pressing 2 at the phone prompt for reference.
Memorial service
BROOKFIELD -- Township firefighters, auxiliary members and police will have their annual memorial service honoring deceased members at 7 p.m. May 16 at the fire hall, 774 state Route 7 North. Refreshments will follow. The service is open to the public. Before the service, a light meal for members and their guests will be at 6 p.m. in the hall. Tack auction at Rogers
ROGERS -- The Beaver Creek Horseman's Association will have a tack auction and swap meet May 7 at the Rogers Sale. Proceeds benefit the Beaver Creek State Park Bridle Trails System. The event will begin at 10 a.m. New tack will go on sale at 1 p.m. and used tack at 4 p.m. Inside spaces are available for the swap meet for $10. Robbins elected to post
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- State. Sen. Bob Robbins of Greenville, R-50th, was elected chairman of the Pennsylvania Local Government Commission, a bipartisan state commission that specializes in providing research and making recommendations to the General Assembly on issues affecting municipalities. Robbins has been a member of the commission since 1994 and was its chairman from 1995 to 2001. As part of the commission, he was instrumental in the creation of the Center for Local Government and helped create legislation that merged the state departments of community affairs and commerce. Robbins also serves on the Senate Local Government Committee.
