Water district gets funds to build new facility

ST. CLAIR -- The Buckeye Water District has received a $20 million financial package to build a new water treatment facility.
The package was presented Friday to district officials.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is providing the funds that will allow the district to serve an additional 600 customers. The move would increase Buckeye's base to more than 5,000 customers.
The district's water system was built in 1922 and was expanded in 1937. The system is operating at capacity. The financial package is a combination of both a grant and a loan.
