March 25, 1931: One of five bandits who invaded Charley Sedore's "High Hat" speakeasy on Applegate Road in Trumbull County dies of a gunshot wound in South Side hospital. Luke Holland, 31, was shot by a bartender on the roof of the building as he and his companions fled, after robbing about 40 patrons.
Carl Arkwright of Youngstown files suit seeking a share of the multi-million dollar estate of L.W. Hutton in Washington, D.C., who died in 1915. Arkwright is suing on behalf of himself and other Youngstown area nieces and nephews of Hutton.
More than 600 people attend The Vindicator Minstrel Show, a benefit for the Chaney High School PTA. About $100 is raised for the organization.
