Awards presented
Wapashuwi Lodge, Order of the Arrow of the Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America, recently presented their lodge youth and adult of the year awards and the national Order of the Arrow's Founder's Awards.
Brandon Harvey, an assistant scoutmaster with Troop 75 of Austintown, received the Youth of the Year Award for 2005. He is an Eagle Scout and serves the lodge as vice chief of camping.
Larry Andrews, a committee member with Troop 289 in Wickliffe, received the Adult of the Year Award. Andrews is an Eagle Scout and serves the lodge as membership adviser.
James Woodward is youth recipient of the national Order of the Arrow's Founder's Award. He is an Eagle Scout and junior assistant scoutmaster with Troop 101 in Struthers. He serves as chief for Wapashuwi Lodge. He is a senior at Struthers High School and attends the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center in the building and construction program. He is a member of the National Honor Society.
Greg Booty is the adult recipient of the Founder's Award. He is an Eagle Scout and Scoutmaster of Troop 81 in Vienna. Booty serves as the Tapawingo Chapter adviser and maintains the Lodge's Web site.
Founded in 1915, the Order of the Arrow is Scouting's National Honor Society, with a focus on leadership development, membership extension, adventurous programming, and broader service to Scouting and the community.
LEADERSHIP
Judge appointed
The Ohio Supreme Court has appointed Judge Theresa Dellick of Mahoning County Juvenile Court to the Commission on the Rules of Superintendence for Ohio Courts.
Judge Dellick will be one of 19 commission members. The commission makes recommendations to the high court for adoption of new rules and amendments. Upon adoption by the court, the rules become effective, and do not need to be submitted to the Ohio General Assembly for review.
Judge Dellick represents the Ohio Association of Juvenile Court Judges on the commission. She has been the county's juvenile court judge since 2001.
