Rooney paces BC into Frozen Four

Boston College defeated Boston University 5-0 to advance.
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) -- Joe Rooney scored two short-handed goals and Corey Schneider made 28 saves for his second straight shutout to help Boston College advance to the Frozen Four with a 5-0 victory over Boston University on Saturday night.
Rooney also had an assist for the Eagles (25-12-3), who will face Holy Cross or North Dakota in the national semifinals Thursday in Milwaukee.
Matt Greene, Brian Boyle and Benn Ferriero also scored for Boston College, which also beat Miami (Ohio) 5-0 on Friday night in the Northeast Regional.
The game was the sixth meeting between Boston College and Boston University this season, with the Terriers winning four of them -- including the Beanpot championship and the Hockey East tournament final.
"The way we played them last week in the Hockey East finals we knew we should have won that game," Schneider said. "We just wanted another shot at them."

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Joe Pavelski had a hat trick and Brian Elliott set a Wisconsin record with his 10th career shutout.
The Badgers (27-10-3) advanced to play Cornell today.
Pavelski scored once in each period, with two of his goals coming on the power play, to take the team lead with 23 saves. Jake Dowell also scored for the Badgers.

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Jon Gleed scored the winning goal midway through the third period after Cornell overcame a two-goal, first-period deficit.
Topher Scott and Matt Moulson also scored for the Big Red (22-8-4). Brian Salcido and Jack Hillen had power-play goals for Colorado College (24-16-2).
East RegionalMaine 6, Harvard 1
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Bret Tyler and Michel Leveille scored unassisted goals and Maine beat Harvard for the third straight time in the tournament.
Maine (27-11-2) will meet Michigan State in the regional final today.
Harvard (21-12-2) has not advanced past the first round since 1994.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Jeff Lerg stopped 36 shots and fellow freshman Tim Crowder scored early for top-seeded Michigan State (25-11-8).
