MERCER COUNTY COURT 28-year-old sentenced for variety of offenses



A marijuana grower was among those sentenced.
MERCER, Pa. -- A Mercer man was placed on four years' probation Friday in Mercer County Common Pleas Court for several offenses.
Travis Shirley, 28, of North Perry Highway, was sentenced by Judge Christopher St. John for prohibited offensive weapons, accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle and theft by deception, all misdemeanors.
Court documents state that Shirley was caught on Lake Street, Stoneboro, in May 2003 with a switchblade, and passed a $17.50 check on July 24, 2003, at Veado's Mini Mart, 181 Hadley Road, Hempfield Township, knowing the account was closed. Also in 2003, Shirley was involved in an accident at North Foster and Poole Road, Jackson Township, and failed to stop and give information or render aid. He was also ordered to make restitution.
Also sentenced Friday were:
UJennifer Fine, 24, of Pocatello, Idaho, four days to two years in jail for hindering apprehension or prosecution, a misdemeanor. The sentence was ordered served consecutively to one in another case. She was given credit for four days already served and then paroled. On Sept. 26, 2005, she was at an East Poplar Street, Grove City, residence when deputy sheriffs came seeking an acquaintance of hers. She told them he was not there, when he was actually hiding in the basement.
UDietmar Ackerman, 50, of Fourth Avenue, Sharon, was placed on two years' probation and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service for misdemeanor retail theft. Ackerman stole $199 worth of groceries from Giant Eagle, 2365 E. State St., Hermitage, Sept. 17, 2005.
UBenjamin Aley, 24, of Grant Street, Fredonia, was placed on one year's probation and ordered to perform 50 hours' community service for theft from a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor. On July 28, 2005, he stole a rifle worth $300 from a vehicle parked on Delaware Road, Fairview Township.
UStephen Cope, 19, of Beach Street, Stoneboro, was placed on one year's probation for defiant trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Cope illegally entered a Tower Road, Pine Township, building Sept. 20, 2005, and was caught with marijuana in his possession.
UDaniel Lenkner, 20, of Orangeville Road, Greenville, was placed on three years' probation for manufacture of a controlled substance, a felony. He had 19 marijuana plants growing at his home when apprehended Aug. 11, 2005.
UJeffrey Stennett, 24, of Kenneth Drive, Gibsonia, was placed on two years' probation and fined $300 for corruption of minors and possession of a small amount of marijuana, both misdemeanors. On Aug. 21, 2005, Stennett possessed less than 30 grams of marijuana and allowed a 16-year-old girl to use the drug at the Vacation Land Campground, 967 Georgetown road, Deer Creek Township.
