MEADVILLE, PA. Allegheny College plans events to honor Celebrate Asia Month



MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Celebrate Asia Month at Allegheny College will be observed with a variety of events, including lectures, a martial arts exhibition and an origami demonstration.
These events are free and open to the public:
UWednesday, noon, lunch provided and lecture "Reading the Tea Leaves: The Commodification of Asianness" in Campus Center Room 301-302.
USaturday, 8 p.m., lecture and dance performance by Peggy Myo-Young Choy in Campus Center lobby.
UApril 5, 7 p.m., lecture "The Social Construction and Ethics of Homosexuality in the Philippines" in Campus Center Room 301-302.
UApril 6, 8 p.m., origami demonstration in Campus Center Room 206.
UApril 11, 7 p.m., martial arts demonstration in the Montgomery gym.
UApril 13, 6 p.m., Chinese calligraphy demonstration in Campus Center Room 303.
UApril 19, 7 p.m. lecture "Eastern Culture in Western Movies" in Campus Center Room 301-302.
UApril 20, 5:30 p.m. lecture "31 Years After the Fall of Saigon: How Vietnam Went from Being the Second Poorest Country in 1975 to the Second Hottest Asian Market Today" in Campus Center Room 301-302.
UApril 26, 12:15 p.m. lunch provided and lecture "Updates on the North Korea Nuclear Crisis" in Quigley Auditorium.
