Lenten mission
HUBBARD -- The Rev. Larry Richards, a priest from the Diocese of Erie, Pa., will lead a Lenten mission from 7 to 9 p.m. April 2-5 at St. Patrick Church, 225 N. Main St. The founder of The Reason for Hope Foundation will present these programs: "God's Love and Prayer," April 2; "Love of Others," April 3; "The Passion of Christ" and sacrament of reconciliation, April 4; and "Adoration and Healing," April 5 with Eucharistic adoration and a healing service. Baby-sitting will be available. A free-will offering will be taken the last night.
Prayer breakfast
YOUNGSTOWN -- Centenary United Methodist Church, 1413 Belmont Ave., will hold a prayer breakfast from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 1 with the keynote speaker, the Rev. Orlando Chaffee, superintendent of Mahoning Valley District of the United Methodist Church. The event will feature Mother's Jewels, vocalists, and praise dancers from St. Paul United Methodist Church, Cleveland. The Rev. Mr. Chaffee oversees 70 churches in the district. Guest speaker
GREENVILLE -- Living Word Christian Center, 21 S. Maysville Road, will host guest speaker Pastor Brad Spencer during services at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. April 2. He hosts "The Faith Connection," a television ministry in North and South Carolina.
Choir to perform
DAMASCUS -- The India Children's Choir will present a free concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Damascus United Methodist Church, 260 Valley Road. Sponsor is Bibles for the World, a mission dedicated to sharing the Bible with people in their native languages. Dr. Rochunga and Mawii Pudaite of India organized the choir that includes 22 children age 9 to 12.
Church to host speaker
VIENNA -- Liberty Bible Church, 2111 Sodom-Hutchings Road, will host a speaker, Rob Wertheim, an evangelist with Jews for Jesus, at 7 p.m. Thursday. Wertheim joined the staff of Jews for Jesus, based in Los Angeles, in 1988. He has a master's degree in missiology from the Fuller School of World Missions, Pasadena, Calif.
Choir festival planned
WARREN -- The 20th anniversary United Methodist Choir Festival is planned at 7 p.m. Sunday at Tod Avenue United Methodist Church, 155 Tod Ave. N.W. Choirs from Brookfield, Champion Otterbein, Fowler, Howland, Vienna, Southington, Warren First, Warren Grace and Tod Avenue United Methodist churches will participate. The festival will feature a procession of the more than 100 robed singers. Choirs will perform individually and as a group. The festival is free, but a free-will offering will be taken.
Movie to be screened
GIRARD -- Unity Church Center, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, will screen the film, "The Celestine Prophecy," at 7 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. April 2 and 5 p.m. April 8. Seated is limited. For tickets, call (330) 539-0122. The movie, rated PG, is based on James Redfield's best-selling novel that chronicles the discovery of ancient scrolls in the rain forests of Peru.
Family night scheduled
FARRELL, Pa. -- The music department at New and Living Way Apostolic Proclaimers of the Truth, 927 Lee Ave., will hold a family night at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Choir festival set
COLUMBIANA -- The choirs of the Columbiana Ministerial Association will hold the 13th annual Columbiana Community Choir Festival. Lenten and Easter brass, piano, organ and choral music will be presented, and two trumpeters from Cleveland Institute of Music will perform. Rehearsals will be at 2 p.m. Sunday and April 2 at Grace United Church of Christ, 140 S. Main St., where the program will follow at 3:30. Participating churches are First Presbyterian, First United Methodist, Grace United, Jerusalem Lutheran, Midway Mennonite, Assembly of God, Zion Hill Church of the Brethren and Upper Room Fellowship.
Orthodox study
LIBERTY -- The Rev. Daniel Rohan, pastor of St. Mark Orthodox Church, 3560 Logan Way, will conduct programs on the Orthodox Christian faith at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, starting next week.
Pastoral anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN -- Calvary Ministries International, 1812 Oak Hill Ave., will recognize Bishop Norman L. and Rita H. Wagner and family for their 35th pastoral anniversary during services at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at Calvary. A banquet will be at 4 p.m. April 1 at Avion on the Water in Canfield.
