LANE'S END STAKES Biggest long shot wins race at Turfway Park

With a City surged down stretch to upend the field in the Kentucky Derby prep.
FLORENCE, KY. (AP) -- With a City, the biggest long shot on the board, won the $500,000 Lane's End Stakes at 48-1 odds Saturday at Turfway Park.
With a City burst between horses at the top of the stretch and beat Seaside Retreat to the wire in the first major Kentucky Derby prep to be run on Polytrack, an all-weather synthetic surface.
Turfway Park is the only track in the nation with the rubber, sand and wax mixture, which is more widely used in England.
With a City is trained by Michael Maker and was ridden by Brice Blanc. The 3-year-old colt ran the 1 1-8 miles in 1:51.
Slips through
Todd Pletcher's Tahoe Warrier went to the lead out of the gate, along with Sharp Attack, which took control down the backside. Superfly, trained by Nick Zito, made a move at the top of the turn, but went slightly wide, allowing With a City to slip through.
With a City paid $99.60, $38.20 and $17. Seaside Retreat returned $11.20 and $7.80. Malameeze was $11.40 to show.
The Polytrack surface, which was installed last fall, makes comparison of times difficult at Turfway. Hansel won the race on Turfway's old dirt track in 1:46 3-5 in 1991, the year he won the Preakness and Belmont stakes.
On the under card, the Mark Casse-trained Top Notch Lady, winner of her previous two races at Woodbine, won the $150,000 Grade 3 Bourbonette Breeders' Cup for 3-year-old fillies.
Top Notch Lady, with Robby Albarado aboard, covered the mile in 1:39.1 to finish a neck ahead of Coronado's Vision.
High Cotton, trained by Pletcher and ridden by Chris DeCarlo, won the $100,000 Rushaway Stakes.
