Fire breaks out at UPS Store in Boardman

BOARDMAN -- Firefighters responded to a fire at The UPS Store, 143 Boardman-Canfield Road, at 5:20 p.m. Saturday. A portion of U.S. Route 224 was temporarily closed to allow emergency crews access to the fire at the east end of the Boardman Plaza. No injuries were reported.
Tim Drummond, assistant fire chief, said the fire was confined to The UPS Store but adjoining businesses, including House of China Restaurant, Mahoning County Area Court, Nationwide Insurance and Isle of Tropics tanning salon sustained some smoke damage.
Drummond said late Saturday that it was too early in the investigation to say how the fire started or to give a damage estimate. Boardman firefighters were aided by the Western Reserve Joint Fire District and Beaver Township Fire Department.
