One person is charged with taking funds from the United Way.
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Mahoning County grand jury has indicted a city man on felony drug charges.
A grand jury handed up indictments Thursday against Michael D. Johntony, 25, of South Schenley Avenue, on two counts of trafficking in drugs, three counts of possession of drugs with forfeiture specifications and one court of complicity to trafficking in drugs.
Johntony is accused of selling OxyContin and methadone, both of which are controlled substances, between Jan. 7, 2005, and March 16.
On March 16, members of Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force searched the house where Johntony lives with his girlfriend and her 7-year-old daughter. Officers found 451 OxyContin tablets and 60 methadone tablets, valued at $21,600, in the plumbing work of a second-floor bathroom. Police said they associate that amount of drugs with a supplier rather than a street dealer.
Task force agents also seized $29,849 and six guns.
United Way theft
The grand jury also indicted Deborah S. Freudenberg, 47, of Virginia Trail, New Waterford, on one felony count of theft. Freudenberg is a former employee of Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way. In April, a United Way official filed a police report about the theft of $29,700 from the agency. Freudenberg was fired from United Way in August 2004 after working for the organization nearly 25 years. She has denied taking contributions.
Richard W. Stilson Jr., 39, of Westminster Avenue, Austintown, was indicted on six counts of rape and six counts of gross sexual imposition. Stilson is accused of raping two teenage girls and a minor boy he knew. The rape charges are felonies with maximum sentences of life in prison upon conviction.
