YOUNGSTOWN -- A highlight of the Feb. 22 meeting of VFW Post 3767 Auxiliary was the presentation of awards from the Department of Ohio.
Candy Brooks, District 8 president, presented certificates to the membership for its participation in the following: Community Service Program, Caring American Award, Patriot's Pen Youth Essay Contest, Legislative Program, Voice of Democracy Scholarship Fund, Rehabilitation Award, Most Memorable Hospital Project, Cancer Programs, Political Action Program, Veteran's Rehabilitation Program, Wheelchair Olympics, and Hospital Program.
Brooks noted the 12 certificates were among the most to be received by any auxiliary in the district.
The auxiliary is involved in protecting veterans' entitlements, promoting patriotism, conducting youth programs, raising funds for cancer research and providing service to the community. It is also sponsoring a girls' HCYL softball team and a girl to attend Buckeye Girls State in June.
