FORMER 'WONDER YEARS' ACTOR TO BE A FATHER

Former 'Wonder Years'actor to be a father
LOS ANGELES -- Fred Savage, perhaps best known for his role on ABC's "The Wonder Years," is going to be a father.
Jennifer Stone Savage is expecting the couple's first child in August, his agent, Brian Swardstrom, confirmed Wednesday.
Savage, 29, portrayed wide-eyed Kevin Arnold on "The Wonder Years" from 1988-1993. He starred in the 2004 film "Welcome to Mooseport" and the ABC sitcom "Crumbs."
In recent years, he has also worked behind the camera, including producing and directing "Phil of the Future" on the Disney Channel and directing Nickelodeon's "Drake & amp; Josh."
Singer turns on reportersafter court appearance
LONDON -- Moments after pleading guilty to seven drug charges Thursday, Pete Doherty lashed out at reporters covering his court appearance and kicked one in the arm.
Trudi Barber, a reporter for the British Broadcasting Corp.'s Radio One station, was kicked amid scenes of what she described as "total chaos."
The 26-year-old Babyshambles singer was more than an hour late for his appearance at Thames Magistrates' Court in central London. He had to battle through a crush of reporters and photographers to get inside.
He then pleaded guilty to seven charges of possessing drugs, including heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana, which police said they found when he was stopped once in December and once in January.
Doherty, the former boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss, is already under court supervision for drug charges. In early February, a judge imposed a 12-month community service order and required Doherty to submit to regular drug tests.
His lawyer, Sean Curran, asked Judge Jane McIvor to put off the matter for six months so they could see how Doherty progressed.
"I would not like the court to impose anything that would go against the grain," Curran said. "He is a very talented man. Unfortunately, every move he makes has been in the spotlight."
McIvor ordered Doherty to return to court April 20, "which will mean we will know the results of his next review on April 12." She warned that all options remained open for sentencing.
It was when Doherty left the court -- wearing his trademark trilby hat and a gray suit -- that he allegedly kicked Barber in the elbow and knocked her microphone on the ground.
Wallace regrets not gettinginterview with Pat Nixon
NEW YORK -- The one big interview Mike Wallace regrets never landing was with Pat Nixon.
Wallace, who was given a lifetime achievement award by the New York Press Club on Tuesday night, said he learned while traveling with the Nixons in 1968 that she was a brave, smart woman -- not the "plastic Pat" as she was sometimes portrayed.
"She was a genuine, lovely, fine woman who was bruised by what happened to her husband," he said. "[She was] intelligent, loyal and raised wonderful kids."
Wallace, who said last week he was retiring from CBS News' "60 Minutes" this spring, also said he turned down an offer to become Nixon's press secretary at the White House.
Asked who was the best president he had seen in his years as a reporter, Wallace -- who considers Nancy Reagan a close friend -- said it was her husband.
"Ronald Reagan knew who the hell he was," he said. "He had his convictions. He was comfortable in his skin. I thought he was a superb president."
Some of Wallace's "60 Minutes" colleagues were on hand to watch the 87-year-old newsman receive the award. Lesley Stahl even tried to put him on the spot, asking whether there was any question he was embarrassed to have asked. He said no.
"There is no such thing as an indiscreet question," he said.
Leave it to Andy Rooney to get -- as he does on "60 Minutes" -- the last word.
"Do you think there's any possibility you could get CBS management to split your salary up amongst the rest of us?" Rooney said.
