Dellosso works to be featured in solo exhibition

SALEM -- Beginning Saturday and running through April 29, the Butler Institute of American Art Salem Branch, 3434 E. State St., will present a solo exhibition of recent works by New York artist Gabriela Gonzalez Dellosso.
This exhibition features realism in a variety of media by Dellosso, whose inspirations range from the Dutch Masters to the Pre-Raphaelites, and from Frida Kahlo to Norman Rockwell. An exhibition catalogue accompanies the show.
Dellosso's artistic roots can be found on both sides of her family. Her maternal grandmother and great-grandfather were well respected and published poets in South America, and her father was a painter.
In 2004, Dellosso was awarded "Best In Show" at the Arnot Art Museum's Annual Regional Exhibition, and a Silver Medal of Honor (2004) in Allied Artists of America Open Exhibition. She was awarded the Phil Desind prize (2003) as part of The Butler Institute of American Art in the 67th National Midyear, a juried show. She was the first recipient of the Huntington Scholarship Award (2000) from the Hudson Valley Art Association.
