YSU Dana double bass group will host symposium



The symposium will feature performances and master classes.

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Leonardi Double Bass Association at Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music will host the 2006 Midwest Double Bass Symposium on April 9 in Bliss Hall at YSU. Bassists from the Midwest and Canada are invited to attend.
The symposium presents an opportunity for bassists to visit exhibits, attend master classes, and attend performances of world-renowned artists.
The symposium is an all-day event beginning at 9 a.m.
Master classes will be led by John Clayton, bassist/composer/arranger; Maximilian Dimoff of the Cleveland Orchestra; and Jeffrey Turner of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Registration information is available at: www.ysubass.org. Bassists can select the master class they would like to attend.
The symposium will conclude with two performances: a solo recital by Hal Robinson, principal bass of the Philadelphia Orchestra; and a performance by John Clayton with the YSU Big Band.
The Clayton-YSU Big Band performance is free and open to the public and will begin at 8:30 p.m. in the Chestnut Room in Kilcawley Center.
