TRUMBULL COUNTY 7 sewer projects are moving ahead



Commissioners also hired lawyers in a dispute over Newton Falls bridge reconstruction.

WARREN -- Trumbull County is getting ready to launch seven large sewer improvements over the next couple years.
Sanitary Engineer Gary Newbrough got permission from county commissioners Wednesday to advertise for engineering services.
Projects on list
The county auditor's office said costs for projects will be finalized after engineering is complete. Engineering services are sought for:
UA 7,000-foot sanitary sewer line in Liberty Township known as the Little Squaw Creek Interceptor along state Route 193, running north from the intersection of Tibbetts Wick Road to Crews Hood Road near the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport to serve 28 customers. Construction is being planned for late 2006 or early 2007.
UA sewage collection project on Topper Hill Drive in Liberty to serve up to 20 customers. Construction would begin in 2007.
UA 6,100-foot sanitary sewer line in Liberty known as the March Avenue sewer project to serve 46 customers on Old Shady Road from Interstate 80 to Church Hill Road, Fifth Avenue Extension from Overview Drive to Church Hill Road, Vienna Avenue from Overview Drive to Church Hill Road, March Avenue from Overdrive Drive to Church Hill Road, and Church Hill Road from Shady Road to Sampson Road. The project is to begin in the middle of 2006.
UA 4,700-foot sanitary sewer line in Brookfield Township known as the Golf and Wintergreen Drive sewer project to serve 57 customers on Golf Drive, Wintergreen Drive and Spring Road. Construction is to begin in the middle of 2006.
UBrookfield Center North Phase II sanitary sewer project to serve 106 customers on Seaborn Street from Wood Street to Warren-Sharon Road, state Route 7 in the town square, Grove Street from Seaborn Street to Bedford Road and Warren-Sharon Road from Seaborn Street extending east about 5,000 feet. Construction is slated for 2007.
UScott Street Phase I sanitary sewer project to serve 61 customers in Newton Township on West River Road from Eckman Avenue to the Mahoning River, Eckman Avenue, Windsor Street, Chestnut Street, Broadway Avenue, Cleveland Avenue, Woodland Avenue, Niles Avenue and Canal Street from Niles Avenue to Taylor Avenue. The project is to begin in 2007.
UA 3,600-foot Cadwallader-Sonk sanitary sewer project in Bazetta Township to serve 50 customers on McCleary Jacoby Road, state Route 46 and Cadwallader-Sonk Road.

Commissioners also:
UAuthorized the county engineer to hire the law firm of Brickler & amp; Eckler of Columbus to represent the county in a dispute with the Becdir Construction Co., the general contractor working on the Newton Falls Covered Bridge Rehabilitation Project. County Engineer John Latell said a dispute has arisen over contractual language on the project.
UApproved the appointment of 11 individuals to the county Senior Services Advisory Council for one-year terms beginning April 1. The council will oversee spending of the funds approved in November's general election for senior citizens services. The 0.75-mill levy will bring in $2,595,725 annually.
UAuthorized the county Building Inspection Department to purchase four GMC Canyon trucks for the department's inspectors to use. They will cost about $15,000 each and will come from Norris Auto Mall in Medina.
UAuthorized the county's Sanitary Engineering Department to purchase 10 vehicles for the department's use at a cost of $146,907 from Norris Automall in Medina and 32 Ford-Mercury of Batavia.
