Theater group to stage 'Red Chief'

SALEM -- The Salem Community Theatre, 490 E. State St., will stage the O. Henry classic "The Ransom of Red Chief" for two weekends, beginning Friday and running through April 2.
"Ransom" is the story of Johnny Dorset (Red Chief), a young lad so mischievous that when two down-on-their-luck kidnappers decide to snatch him and hold him for a ransom, they soon find out that no one is in a hurry to have him returned. Red Chief in turn, is delighted with his new playmates and his antics soon have them worn to a frazzle.
At this point the question becomes: Will Red's family pay to get him back, or will the kidnappers have to pay to get rid of him?
Dave Wack is the director, and Dylan White (Red Chief), Thomas Legaurd and Josh Comm (the kidnappers) play the lead roles.
To buy tickets, call the SCT Box office at (330) 332-9688.
Showtimes are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sunday and April 2.
