Judy, a 5-9 guard, averaged 18.5 points per game for the Blue Devils.
Earning special mention were Campbell's Terrance Phillips, Warren JFK's Tashaun Walker and LaBrae's Dan Hartman. Making honorable mention were Campbell's Trey Soares, Springfield's Zach DeJane, Warren JFK's Desmar Jackson and Stephan Flanagan and East Palestine's Travis Foreman.
State-wide honors
Two players from high-flying Cincinnati North College Hill are among the top honorees in Div. III.
Reigning Mr. Basketball O.J. Mayo shares the player of the year honors with teammate Bill Walker along with Bellaire's Nate Davis and Atwater Waterloo's high-scoring Eric Schiele.
The players of the year in small-school Division IV were Mansfield St. Peter's Brandon Speck and Ottoville's Josh Vorst. The selections were made based on the recommendations of a state media panel.
Mayo, a 6-foot-5 swingman regarded as the top junior in the country, averaged 28.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 5 steals a game.
Walker, a 6-6 dunking machine, was no less impressive. Also a junior, he averaged 22.4 points a game and helped North College Hill to its third consecutive AP regular-season poll crown.
Davis, a 6-3 senior who will play football at Ball State, averaged 38.9 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocked shots a game.
All Schiele, a 5-9 senior, did was average 41.3 points a game. While some programs present a game ball to a player scoring 1,000 points in his career, Schiele scored almost that many (868) this season. He made a state-record 120 3-pointers this year, while also averaging 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals a game for a 17-3 team.
Small-school division
In Division IV, Speck, a 5-11 senior, averaged 25 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5 assists a game, while Vorst was good for 22.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game for the No. 1 team in the final poll.
The coaches of the year were Lancaster Fisher Catholic's Tracy Blevins and Ottoville's Tom Von Sossan.
