CANTON -- Ashen Ward scored 25 points to lead Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph to a 78-64 win over Bedford Chanel in a Division III boys regional final Saturday.
Darryl Rushton scored 21 points for VASJ (20-6) and David Lighty added 16 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and seven steals. Steve Martin led Bedford Chanel with 17 points. Joe Latas added 11 and Jahmil Rippy scored 10.
Wheelersburg 57, Ironton 54
ATHENS -- Nick Carrington scored 13 points to lead Wheelersburg in Div. III.
The Pirates (23-2) took a 52-42 lead with 5:25 to play, but Ironton (19-6) responded with a 10-3 run. Carrington made two free throws with 16 seconds left.
Wheelersburg shot 50 percent from the floor and held Ironton to 30 percent shooting.
Drew Spradlin scored 12 points for Wheelersburg and Camden Miller added 11. Dennis Gagai led Ironton with 28 and Marc Carter added 23.
Archbold 57,Johnstown-Monroe 54
BOWLING GREEN -- David Borcherdt scored 23 points and hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Archbold (20-4) the win in Div. III.
Cory Ratai scored on a putback with 15 seconds left to pull the Johnnies (24-1) to a 54-54 tie.
Ratai led Johnstown-Monroe with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Daniel added 14 points.
Tol. St. John's 57, Strongsville 53
TOLEDO -- Jonathan Dunn scored 18 points to lead Toledo St. John's in Div. I. Dunn made two free throws with about five seconds left to put the Titans ahead 55-53, capping a second half in which the Titans shot 73.3 percent from the floor (11-of-15). Andrew Taylor scored 13 points and had nine rebounds for the Titans (21-5). Kyle Brown led Strongsville (20-5) with 29 points. Tim Kamczyc added 11.
Lancaster 52, Cin. Elder 49
COLUMBUS -- Chris McKnight hit nine of his 10 shots from the field and Lancaster held off a last-minute charge from Cincinnati Elder in Div. I. After Lancaster's Jordan Lucus made a free throw for a 52-49 lead with 35 seconds left, Elder worked to get a 3-pointer, but an off-balance shot by Kyle Rudolph as time ran out fell short. McKnight scored 18 points and had 13 rebounds for Lancaster. Rudolph had 15 points and Brian Hamrick 14 for Elder (22-3).
Trotwood-Madison 71,W. Chester Lakota W. 68, OT
CINCINNATI -- Ibrahim Marone and Armond Darby each scored 14 points to lead Trotwood-Madison in Div. I. After Vince Cook scored on a three-point play to give Lakota West (23-3) a 68-66 lead, Patric Hill scored his only points of the night -- a 3-pointer with 23 seconds left -- to give the Rams (20-5) a 69-68 lead. British Alexander made two free throws to seal it. Chris Wright and Duane Morgan each scored 12 points for Trotwood-Madison. Cook led the Firebirds with 28 points and Josh Chichester added 10 points and 11 rebounds.
