Howland announces fixed natural-gas price

HOWLAND -- The township has announced a fixed price of $9.45 per thousand cubic feet of natural gas from its preferred supplier, Commerce Energy of Ohio Inc.
The preferred rate for Howland residents could save a customer almost 15 percent from the Dominion East Ohio rates that were filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio for March, according to Frank Wanderski, director of marketing for Commerce Energy.
The rate will remain in effect for the May through October 2006 gas flow.
Unlike Commerce Energy's guaranteed rate, Dominion's rate is subject to monthly fluctuations.
"At a point when natural gas prices have been soaring to all-time highs, we are very pleased to offer Howland residents the best fixed price around for the next six months and will lock in a price for the upcoming winter heating season," said township Trustee Rick Clark.
There is no cost to enroll in the program; however, residents and businesses must enroll by April 28 to participate.
To enroll, contact Commerce Energy, (800) 355-9742.
Customers who are currently served by other suppliers should be aware of the obligations in their existing contracts before joining the township's aggregate natural gas program.
