Thornton-Dierkes engagement is being announced

XLOWELLVILLE -- The engagement of Michele Thornton and James Dierkes, both of 1300 Bobby Lane, Westlake, is being announced by parents of the bride-elect, David and Paulette Thornton, 4072 New Castle Road.
The future groom is a son of Patricia Dierkes, 111 Pricetown, Diamond, and Paul Dierkes, 3902 S. Schenley, Youngstown.
Miss Thornton received a bachelor's degree in athletic training from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, and a master's in physical therapy from the Ohio State University in Columbus. She is a physical therapist with Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Strongsville.
Mr. Dierkes is pursuing a bachelor's degree in health sciences at Lorain County Community College in Elyria, and is a former apprentice in the pipefitting union.
The couple have planned an open wedding for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 5 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Their reception will be held that evening at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman.
