Sustainable Living series at Villa Maria
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- EverGreen is sponsoring a Sustainable Living series dealing with sunlight, water and wind as primary sources of energy, though they are often called alternative energies.
EverGreen is a ministry of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary that offers holistic, homeopathic, earth education programs and experiential activities designed to integrate spirituality, simplicity and sustainability for people of all ages, cultures and religions.
Sessions are planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
Programs will be:
Saturday, solar energy. Participants will receive a portable solar oven from Solar Cookers International.
April 22, hydropower. There will be a video on the history of hydropower, a discussion on local and global water issues and an Earth Day celebration focused on water.
May 27, wind energy. There are plans to construct a small windmill. "Fun wind activities" will be integrated throughout the day.
The costs per session range from $30 to $45, and lunch is included. Registration is required. Contact Tina Fanfer at (724) 964-8920, Ext. 3387 or e-mail her at CFanfer@humilityofmary.org.
