Corso gets Eagle award
Dominic J. Corso II, a son of Dom and Daisy Corso of Boardman, received his Eagle Scout award, Boy Scouting's highest honor, at a court of honor ceremony last Sunday.
Dominic is a member of Troop 54, which meets at Brownlee Woods Presbyterian Church in Youngstown, and his Scoutmaster is Dave Chauvin.
He earned 32 merit badges and has served as the troop's assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, and senior patrol leader. He attended NASA Space Camp in Huntsville, Ala., and obtained his Space Exploration badge. His other awards were the Ad Altare Dei, Good Turn for America, and World Conservation. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow.
His Eagle Project was construction of an outdoor fitness center at Roosevelt Park in Campbell. He obtained help from the city of Campbell's street and park departments and Campell's City Fest Committee. Dominic planned and led the construction of the fitness center, which includes eight exercising stations. The center also includes a memory bench dedicated to his late grandfather, Francisco Ocasio.
He is a sophomore at Boardman High School, and a record-setting member of its track and cross-country teams. He is a member of BHS Art Club and is a registered volunteer with the Volunteer Service Agency. He also is an altar server at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Youngstown.

Acri wins photo awards
Jack Acri of Acri Photography in North Jackson recently received top honors in the Mid East States Affiliated Print Competition hosted by the Professional Photographers of Ohio at the Dayton Convention Center.
Acri received two blue ribbons, an honorable mention and a gold acceptance certificate for his entries. Both of his blue ribbon winners were high school senior portraits.
More than 850 photographs were submitted for judging, and in the portrait category only one-third were awarded blue ribbons. Each photographer was permitted to enter four prints. Acri's photographs will be accepted into the International Print Competition.
The Mid East Regional competition consists of entries from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio, and it is one of the largest print shows in America.
