Lenten mission planned
YOUNGSTOWN -- St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 1898 Wilson St., will hold a Lenten mission next week.The Rev. Joseph Freund of New York City will be the presenter during services at 5 p.m. Sunday, followed by a free spaghetti buffet, and at noon and 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday followed by a doughnut social.
Broadcast at church
CORTLAND -- Cortland Trinity Baptist Church, 2576 McCleary Jacoby Road, will have a live broadcast via satellite of a panel discussion called "Be Still" at 7 p.m. Sunday.
The program, which will focus on Scripture and prayer, will feature Dallas Willard, Richard Foster, Priscilla Shirer and Dr. Henry Cloud. Hosts will be actor/producer Judge Reinhold and his wife, Amy.
Legion of Mary
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Diocese Legion of Mary will hold its annual Acies, a ceremony to renew consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary, at 2 p.m. March 26 at St. Columba Cathedral, 159 W. Rayen Ave. The rosary will be recited and there will be Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The Rev. Gerry Lessard of St. Dominic Church will be the celebrant. Refreshments will follow the service.
Testimony night
CANFIELD -- Sae Reese, who conducts the Sweet Aroma ministry of dance, worship and intercession, will speak at 7 p.m. March 27 at Lifecare Ministry Center, Lucille Orr Ministries Inc., 5357 Raccoon Road. She will hold a dance class at the center in April.
Day of Recollection
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Day of Recollection is planned from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 25 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 252 E. Wood St. by the Rev. Nicholas Mancini, pastor. The sponsor is Children of the Divine Will of Youngstown, which studies the spirituality and writings of Luisa Piccarreta, an Italian woman who wrote 38 books on mystical theology. She is being considered for beatification.
The program will be: Ten Commandments, Beatitudes and works of mercy from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; confession, 3:30 to 4; and Eucharist, 4. The fee is $25 and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Message and meditation
CANFIELD -- The Youngstown Spiritual Society will hold a message and meditation service from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the Ursuline Center, 4300 Shields Road. Vince Lisi will present, "Turning Tasks into Manifestations," followed by meditation and shared prayer.

BEACHWOOD -- Tickets are on sale for the exhibit "Cradle of Christianity: Treasures from the Holy Land," which opens April 1 at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage. The exhibit features one-of-a-kind archeological discoveries including one of the most important Dead Sea Scrolls.

Polka Mass scheduled
CAMPBELL -- St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., will hold a polka Mass at 11:15 a.m. Sunday for the feast of St. Joseph. A smorgasbord dinner will be held until 4 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door. Liturgical music and entertainment during dinner will be provided by Eddie Vallus.
Two events at church
YOUNGSTOWN -- Cornerstone Chapel, 1224 N. Belle Vista Ave., will hold a gospel concert at 11 a.m. March 26 featuring Glory Bound, a local group that uses music and humor to convey spiritual messages. A study on "Productive Prayer" with Joy Chickonoski of Struthers will be at 6 p.m. March 26. She has credentials with the Assemblies of God and attends High Point Assembly in Struthers, where she was on staff for 14 years.
Forum on sexuality
BOARDMAN -- Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 471 Mathews Road, will hold a Community Forum on Sexuality at 7 p.m. March 26. Tim Geiger of Harvest USA in Philadelphia will speak; the Rev. Meditation, recital
SHARON, Pa. -- St. John's Episcopal Church, 226 W. State St., will present its third Lenten meditation and recital Tuesday. Suzanne Lee will open the program with carillon music followed by meditation and harp recital with Kirk Kupensky of Youngstown, minister of music at Unity Church Centre, Girard. A light lunch will follow in the parish house.
Musical program planned
LIBERTY -- Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, will hold a service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday with Tia Ciferno, a Christian inspirational singer and songwriter. She received the North East Ohio Gospel Music Association "Inspiration Award" in 2004.
