School board seeks bids for addition

LOWELLVILLE -- Lowellville Board of Education is seeking bids for an addition to the athletic locker room at the football stadium.
The 30-by-34-foot addition is expected to be completed for the beginning of classes in the fall, Schools Superintendent Rocco Nero said.
During its meeting Wednesday, the board praised business and technology teacher Debra Ignazio for her initiative in obtaining a $2,500 Best Buy grant for the district. The grant will be used for materials and equipment for Ignazio's classroom, Nero said.
In other action, the board:
Approved spending $117,894 to buy two buses from Myers Equipment, Canfield.
Scheduled its next meeting on April 10. The work session will be at 6:30 p.m., and the regular business meeting will be at 7:30 p.m.
Nero said school administrators and board members would respond at the April 10 meeting to letters written to the board by members of a junior government class in which they listed concerns about the school system.
Nero said the major issues mentioned in the letters were the school dress code, student parking lot privileges, drug testing for student athletes and facial hair.
