Howland condominium project canceled

WARREN -- The Trumbull County Planning Commission learned Tuesday that a Howland Township condominium project has been canceled.
The planning commission received a copy of a letter from Universal Development of Girard, saying the company has canceled its plans to build a 53-unit single-family condominium project known as Villas at Howland Hills.
Universal Development and Landmark Real Estate had proposed the subdivision for 32 acres just south of state Route 82 on a hill just east of state Route 46.
Alan Knapp, planning commission director, said one reason the project didn't move forward was because of access questions raised by residents living near the proposed development.
He said he believes another stumbling point was a Howland zoning regulation requiring two access roads to a development of that size.
