Warren man sentenced for violating probation

CORTLAND -- A man who fled after he was released from the Trumbull County Jail to attend his son's funeral has been recaptured and sentenced to 165 days for violating his probation.
Alvin J. Pruitt, 56, of White Court, Warren, was sentenced Friday by Judge Thomas Campbell of Trumbull County Central District Court on an original theft charge for which he had been placed on probation and had a 165-day jail term suspended. However, Pruitt was returned to the Trumbull County Jail after he failed to appear for a probation appointment earlier this year.
Judge Campbell let him out of the jail Feb. 27 so he could attend the funeral of his son, Quantel J. Pruitt, 24, of Warren, who was slain Feb. 22 in Warren Township.
Alvin Pruitt never returned to jail. He was caught Thursday, his probation revoked and the original jail sentenced imposed.
