Preschoolers from 3 to 5 learn how to make a flower pot friend at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park, Youngstown. Above, Julia Marsci spreads out the seed in her pot to avoid having a bald buddy. Below, Hunter Mathie plays with a lima bean during story time. He placed the seed in the hand of his mother, Jennifer Mathie. At left, Katelyn Chiu shows her grandmother, Marilyn, what she drew on her flower pot. Each pot was painted with chalkboard paint so the kids could draw and redraw faces with grass painted in it for hair.
