INDIANS/PIRATES Sabathia, Chacon doing well

But Zach Duke's ERA is 8.00 after three spring starts for Pittsburgh.
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (AP) -- C.C. Sabathia is getting stronger as the spring goes on. Shawn Chacon keeps putting up zeros even when he struggles.
Sabathia held a diluted New York Yankees lineup in check, throwing four innings for his second consecutive solid outing in the Cleveland Indians' 7-5 victory Sunday.
Scheduled to start the major league opener April 2 in Chicago against the World Series champion White Sox, Sabathia gave up one earned run and two hits. The big left-hander retired his final six batters, four on groundballs.
"I felt better as the game went along. My arm got looser," he said. "A couple years ago I tried to throw everything as hard as I could in a game like this. Now I just want to get ready for Chicago."
Chacon pitched three scoreless innings for the Yankees, though he had a hard time finding the plate. The right-hander walked four and threw only 32 of 62 pitches for strikes.
"I was pretty bad today. Very inconsistent," he said. "That had to be the ugliest three-inning shutout I've ever thrown."
Indians slugger Travis Hafner hit a two-run double and moved nicely to his left for a tough pickup of Bubba Crosby's third-inning grounder.
Devil Rays 7, Pirates 4
BRADENTON, Fla. -- Casey Fossum threw three scoreless innings in a matchup of starting pitchers from Midway High School in Waco, Texas.
Fossum allowed three hits, walked one and struck out five after missing his previous turn in the starting rotation because of a cut on his left foot from an accident at home.
Fossum has moved his foot positioning on the pitcher's rubber to the third base side and was pleased with how it felt Sunday.
"It really helped me get the ball inside on right-handed hitters more," Fossum said.
"I like to pitch inside. It's where I'm most effective."
Pittsburgh starter Zach Duke, who was six years behind Fossum at Midway, was tagged for six runs -- five earned -- and five hits in four innings.
The Devil Rays scored five runs in the fourth to make it 6-0. Ty Wigginton, who was released by Pittsburgh last December, had a two-run double and Josh Paul belted a two-run home run, his first of the spring.
Duke's ERA is 8.00 after three spring starts. Last season, he was 8-2 with a 1.81 ERA in 14 starts as a rookie.
Pirates left fielder Jason Bay went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run in the fifth inning off Jason Hammel in his first game of the spring. He spent last week playing for Canada in the World Baseball Classic.
