Leif Garrett ordered backto strict drug rehab
LOS ANGELES -- Leif Garrett was ordered to remain in a strict live-in drug rehabilitation program for another month, despite telling a Superior Court judge he was "going down the right path" after spending 42 days there.
The 44-year-old former teen idol, who has appeared in some three dozen films, mostly in the 1970s and 1980s, and has released 10 music albums, agreed to enter the program for violating probation in a cocaine case stemming from a 2004 arrest.
He faces felony heroin possession charges after officers who stopped him Jan. 14 for allegedly trying to ride a Los Angeles subway train without a ticket said they found suspected narcotics. He has pleaded innocent in that case. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 6.
'Hulk' actor sues brother
NEWARK, N.J. -- As "The Incredible Hulk," Lou Ferrigno probably would have ripped off his shirt in anger. Instead, he's suing his brother over trademark rights to a fitness equipment store.
Ferrigno, who played the green-skinned monster in the 1978-82 TV series, is suing Andrew Ferrigno and his wife, Janie, and their business, Ferrigno Fitness of Greenwich Township, claiming they are unlawfully trading on his name and image.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Trenton, claims the store has a green awning, portions of the interior are green, and one green wall is covered with photos of Ferrigno in bodybuilding poses, as well as in his trademark green makeup for his role as the Hulk.
Ferrigno was a bodybuilder before he starred on the TV show. Bill Bixby played mild-mannered scientist David Banner, who turned into the Hulk whenever he lost his temper.
Singer is appreciativethat he won't be charged
LOS ANGELES -- Former Creed singer Scott Stapp expressed gratitude that prosecutors didn't charge him with public drunkenness for an incident at Los Angeles International Airport, and he promised to get his life together and start keeping his name out of the tabloids.
Stapp, 32, and his wife, former Miss New York Jaclyn Nesheiwat, were on their way to Hawaii for their honeymoon when he was arrested Feb. 11 for reportedly being drunk in public. The two were married in Miami the day before.
"No charges have been filed by the L.A. district attorney's office, and for that I am appreciative," Stapp said in a statement Thursday. "I have said it before, but we all make mistakes, and the day will come soon enough where you no longer read of mine in the tabloids."
Stapp is also the target of a lawsuit filed in Miami last week by a woman who claims to be involved in a sex video showing him and fellow musician Kid Rock with several strippers.
Stapp said the tape, which was made in 1999, was stolen from him. He and Kid Rock have won a temporary court order in Michigan preventing World Wide Red Light District from distributing the video or promoting any part of it.
Man to be re-evaluatedin Sierra stalking case
TAMPA, Fla. -- A judge has ordered a third doctor to evaluate a California man charged with stalking a former American Idol contestant.
Hillsborough County Judge Joelle Ober made the ruling Thursday after two other doctors disagreed on whether Daniel Robert Young, 60, is competent to stand trial.
Young was arrested in January after he traveled to Tampa and showed up at a home belonging to Jessica Sierra's grandparents.
Sierra has testified that Young began calling her grandparents in October pretending to be a record producer and trying to get her phone number.
Police said Young left voice mail messages telling Sierra that he loves her and was willing to go to jail for her. He sent her a necklace, a bracelet and dozens of long-stemmed roses after seeing her sing on the Fox talent show, police said.
Young is jailed without bail.
