GIRLS REGIONAL ROUNDUP Wadsworth rolls past Hoover



The Grizzlies romped to a 71-49 victory to win a Division I regional title.

CANTON -- Kathy Shrock scored 16 points and Wadsworth got off to a fast start to beat North Canton Hoover 71-49 in a Division I girls regional championship game on Friday night.
Wadsworth (23-3) hit 11-of-16 field goals to grab a 30-10 lead after the first quarter. The Grizzlies' lead never dropped below 12 points in the second half after they took a 36-22 halftime advantage.
Stephanie Gibson scored 20 points for Hoover (23-3), which had upended Wadsworth 60-52 in the season-opener for both teams.
Pickerington Cent. 54, Pickerington N. 47
WESTERVILLE -- Stephanie Stevens scored 24 points and Pickington Central held on to a first-half lead to beat its cross-town rival in a Division I girls regional championship game.
Emilee Harmon added 11 points for the Tigers (23-3), ranked No. 9 in the final regular-season Associated Press poll.
Megan Askew had 14 points and Lauren Potts 11 for North (20-6).
Copley 44, Sandusky Perkins 43
ONTARIO -- Montrel Mills hit a free throw with 2 seconds left to lift Copley in a Division II girls regional championship game.
Copley (22-4) led 43-36 with 3 minutes left before Perkins (22-3) thundered back to tie it on a shot inside by Cierra Bravard with 49 seconds left.
Mills was fouled on a drive through the lane. She missed the first foul shot but the second bounced around before falling through the rim.
Perkins tried to get the ball to midcourt for a shot but a pass went off a player's leg and time ran out before anyone could pick it up.
Carrie Dyer scored 19 points, 14 in the second half, to lead Copley.
Bravard, a sophomore center, had 25 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots for Perkins.
Warsaw River View 54,Cols. DeSales 41
ZANESVILLE -- Kristin Daugherty scored 20 points -- including 11 of Warsaw River View's 15 points in the third quarter -- to lead the Black Bears to a Division II regional championship victory.
Daugherty, a junior, was joined in double figures by her sister, Kari, a freshman. Both are the daughters of River View (24-1) coach Caroline Daugherty.
Dominique Daniels scored 12 points and Maxine Ohakim had 11 for DeSales (21-4).
Mentor Lake Cath. 42, Bay Village Bay 39
BARBERTON -- Jill Mohr scored 11 points including a go-ahead three-point play to lead Mentor Lake Catholic in a Div. II regional championship game.
Lake Catholic (16-10) will be making its second consecutive trip to the state tournament. The Cougars will play top-ranked Morrow Little Miami (26-0) in a semifinal game on Friday night.
Courtney Schuster had 14 points for the Cougars, who took their first lead of the game on Mohr's basket and accompanying foul shot with 2:45 remaining.
Lindsay Lowrie scored 13 points for Bay (22-4), which led by as many as seven points in the second quarter and was on top 23-20 at the half. The Rockets were without guard Paris Pugliese, who suffered torn ligaments in her knee in a regional semifinal victory over Minerva.
Morrow Little Miami 60, Day. Carroll 46
VANDALIA -- Courtney Grambley scored 18 points and Morrow Little Miami rolled to an early lead in a Div. II regional final.
Jessie Carmack added 12 points and Kelly Hicks had 10 for Little Miami (26-0), the No. 1-ranked team in the final regular-season Associated Press poll.
Brogan Berry had 19 points and Sara Vest 17 for Carroll (20-6).
