U2 postpones end of tour
SYDNEY, Australia -- U2 has postponed the final 10 dates of their "Vertigo" world tour because of the illness of a family member.
In a statement, the tour promoter said the decision was unavoidable "due to the illness of an immediate family member of one of the band."
"Any fan of U2 will realize that this decision has not been taken lightly," said promoter Arthur Fogel. "We will announce further details as soon as we have them."
The statement, released Wednesday, gave no details of the nature of the illness or the band member whose relative was sick. The promoter could not immediately be contacted for further comment.
U2 was scheduled to play Auckland, New Zealand, March 17-18 before kicking off the Australian leg of their world tour in Brisbane on March 21, followed by concerts in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.
The band was scheduled to play in Yokohama, Japan, on April 4 and in Honolulu on April 8.
'Apprentice' bootee to run
ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Raj Bhakta, the aspiring "Apprentice" turned aspiring politician, is running for Congress.
Bhakta, who was fired by Donald Trump during the second season of the NBC reality show "The Apprentice," is challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz for the state's 13th District seat representing suburban Philadelphia.
He received the county GOP's endorsement days before making his announcement Monday.
"We offer voters legitimate change," Bhakta said. "I am not a politician. I am someone from a business background who wants to make a change."
If elected in November, Bhakta said he would serve a maximum of three terms and called on Schwartz to agree to the same term limits.
Schwartz's press secretary, Rachel Magnuson, sidestepped the term-limit challenge, calling the freshman congresswoman someone who has worked hard for the people of her district.
Bhakta, 30, is best remembered for his flashy bow ties, being turned away by tennis star Anna Kournikova for a coffee date, and flirting with Trump's secretary after being booted from the show. He manages a real estate development firm in Fort Washington.
Dylan to play in Denmark
COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- Bob Dylan will perform at Denmark's annual Roskilde Festival as part of his "Never Ending" Tour.
Other artists scheduled to appear at the June 29-July 2 festival include Guns N' Roses, Morrissey and Deftones, organizers said Wednesday.
First held in 1971, the festival in Roskilde, 25 miles west of Copenhagen, was inspired by the 1969 Woodstock Festival in upstate New York.
The Danish event, which in recent years has been shown on MTV, attracts visitors from throughout Europe and the United States.
