Man pleads guilty in case of child porn

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- A man accused of traveling part way across the state to have sex with a 2-year-old girl pleaded guilty to a federal child pornography charge.
Roderick T. Long, 39, of Ross Township, pleaded guilty this week to one count of receiving child pornography. Prosecutors said other counts against him, including inducing a minor into illegal sexual activity, will be dismissed after his sentencing scheduled for June 7.
As part of the deal, Long will have to register as a sex offender.
Investigators learned Long sent money to a Lycoming County woman for photos of her 2-year-old daughter.
Long and the woman engaged in sexually explicit chats online about the child and Long's home computer had pornographic images of the child, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Tina O. Miller.
Prosecutors said Long traveled to Emporium in Cameron County in 2003 to meet with the woman and her daughter.
Long's attorney, public defender Linda E.J. Cohn, told a judge that at sentencing she will challenge the prosecution's contention that Long sexually assaulted the child. Cohn said Long did not admit having sexual contact with the girl.
